With over 35 years of experience as a trial lawyer, Jimmie Miller has tried in excess of 200 jury trials to conclusion in Virginia and Tennessee state and federal courts. She routinely defends medical malpractice cases for hospitals, physicians, nursing homes, and other medical providers. She became the firm’s first female partner in 1986.
Ms. Miller is the 2018-2019 chair of the Tennessee Board of Professional Responsibility, a position appointed by the Tennessee Supreme Court, and is a past president of the Tennessee Board of Law Examiners. Ms. Miller is also a past member of the Tennessee Bar Association’s board of governors.
Pursuant to medical staff bylaws, Mrs. Miller represents hospital administrations and medical executive committees in administrative hearings. She also represents physicians, nurses, and other health care providers before health-related licensing boards or in cases involving the dissolution of medical practices.
In addition to litigating cases concerning health law and medical malpractice defense she has tried cases involving products liability, antitrust, employment, contract disputes, patents, personal injury insurance claims, and Tennessee Consumer Protection Act cases.
Ms. Miller has devoted volunteer hours to helping make sure that the young girls of her community and young women of the legal profession have opportunities that might have made her path somewhat smoother, including serving on the Administrative Committee of First Baptist Church, Kingsport, and as a board member and chair of Kingsport Girls Incorporated.
